It has been almost 2 years since I faded away in to the background of college life and I am looking forward to meeting all the new Jobies. When I running for SLALOC Spirit Queen one of the question asked was "Where do you feel you can gain from Job's Daughters" I really do not recall my answer very clear (remember that was in 1996 and I was very nervous) but what I do remember I have turned into a huge goal for me. If I have never joined Jobies I would be in a tree or playing soccer, but instead instead it I was given friends great friends, I was given something that I thought I could never really find, my true self. I am determine to give back to Job's Daughters what it has given me. I want to be an active Past Honored Queen and Majority Member, to help the girls grow the way I did, and steer clear of the hardships I felt. I am Kentucky's Grand Bethel Marshal, Senior Princess of Bethel No. 9 in Paducah, Kentucky, and a member of Bethel No. 244 in Downey, California, (where I was born and raised.) I'm 19 and a sophomore art major at Murray State University. Bethel No. 9 is in the western-most bit of Kentucky, and it's about 4 hours (at the least) to another Kentucky Bethel. We've always been rather isolated from the rest of the Job's Daughters 'world', and it's kind of showing these days...membership is down and such. However, I noticed that there's a Bethel in Cape Girardeau, Mo, which is only about an hour and a half from us! Davis to study veternarian medicine. I am also Honored Queen of my bethel. I am on my fourth consecutive term. Our bethel has been through a lot in the past few years. I remember when I was chaplain I was the only floor officer and our bethel was facing the sad fact that we might have to close, I remember telling my self that I was never going to be Honored Queen. It took about two years for our little bethel of three to get back on its feet. We never once gave up or lost hope. Now we have grown to 10 active members and in 1998 we won first place for the largerst amount of new members we were so proud of ourselves. We are still pretty strong, we have two grand officers this year. Rhonda Gonzales who is grand bethel guide and Mr. James Marshal who is grand outer guard and he is also our associate bethel guardian. Bethle is a family thing for us, my younger sister Sarah is our marshal and my youngest sister Nicole is the Queen Bee of our JD2BEE hive she will be initiated in september and she is really excited. My mom just went out as bethel guardian. Besides bethel my family has five horses which keep us very busy. If ant honored queen ever needs ideas for funevents or fundraisers she can always e-mail me as I have tons of ideas. Well I must head off to class.
