Ruth Turpin Posted Thursday, 10/29/2009 (8:45 p.m.): This note comes from Laurie Lenhardt, Grand Deputy #60, regarding their recent Initiation: Congratulations Bethel #60! October 27th, I had the privilege of witnessing an awesome site! Bethel #60 Initiated 5 (yes FIVE!) new members. A big welcome goes out to Missouri's newest Job's Daughters; Chole, Frany, Brittany, Becky and Sahalya! The 15 Officers from Bethel #60 & Brianna Hall, Bethel #19, did a wonderful job with the Ceremony of Initiation and left lasting impressions on the new members, and their parents. It was also Honor Masons and OES and they were also impressed with the Ceremony. I was also VERY honored to be one of the first 'Jobie moms' to be able to hold 'Baby Isabella', her mom Beth (Johnson) Biri is doing very well, and Isabella is absolutely beautiful! Thank you to Barb Hall for driving to Jackson, and it was great to see Daniella Brand while visiting!

During the meeting the decision was made with a great deal of sadness that Bethel #40 would close. The remaining members were issued demits and will be traveling to the Bethels in the St. Louis area. Respectfully, Posted Tuesday, 10/13/2009 (4:55 p.m.): This note comes from Mom Keva Arnold, Miss Missouri Chairwonam, regarding the upcoming Pageant: Girls, Parents, and Bethel Council's: I am sending this as a reminder about the Miss and Jr Miss Missouri Jobs Daughters Pageant that is this weekend October 17th 2009. I need all contestants as the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Kansas City by 8:15am for check in an registration on Saturday October 17th 2009. Once you have registered your daughter, we will be providing her a chaperone and she will not be able to leave the building until after the pageant that evening. We also are asking that any adult that is not judging or has been asked to stay for a specific reason that you leave the building for the day and can return around 4:30 pm for the banquet. We have a day packed with judging, team building activities and practice for the evenings event, so I need the girls to stay focused and bond with each other since they will also be voting on a Miss Congeniality. If you need to reach me during the day my cell phone number is 816-522-5664, but I do ask that girls leave their cell phones at home or with their adult. This is a time for sisterhood and cell phones don't have a place in that. The girls need to remember to bring their Robes and accessories, their evening gown, shoes, make up , hair accessories, interview dress or dress suite, and comfy clothes for downtime. Again if you have any questions please call or email me so we can take care of anything else before Saturday.

We had another great weekend of Official Visits. Bethel #36 was on Friday night and they had a shadow night. It was really a lot of fun. Thank you Honored Queen Lauren for asking me to be her shadow. Following the meeting, we were treated to a delicious chili dinner. Bethel #47 was on Saturday morning and they honored Queens/Past Queens and other Masonic Bodies. Honored Queen Erin had a wonderful turn out. Thirty one individuals feel into the category of Queens/Past Queens and/or other Masonic organizations. Following the meeting, they served lunch. It was 3 courses, but we didn't know which course was going to be served and we didn't have any silverware (or plates)! If we wanted silverware we had to pay .25 for each (knife, fork and spoon) and then they were taken away after each course. I had a spoon with my spaghetti, a fork for my salad and a spoon for the banana split. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend both Official Visits. I really enjoyed spending time with Bethels #36 and #47. We have had some Official Visit schedule changes, so please check the calendar on the website. For the rest of 2009 the OV schedule is as follows:
I hope everyone is looking forward to the Miss Missouri Pageant on October 17th and the state-wide church service on October 18th. Honored Queens - we are asking that you write about your own scripture - what it means to you and why you selected it. Please see the 2nd flyer regarding the church service which is on the website. http://www.missouriiojd.org/SpecialEvents/index.htm#MJDWorshipService. Please be safe in your travels and I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the pageant.

Jobie Love, Posted Thursday, 10/1/2009 (4:30 p.m.): This note comes from Mom Betty Schumacher, PBG #1, with news about her daughter, Jessica, PHQ #1: There are so many benefits to belonging to the Masonic family and sometimes we don't realize them due to lifes twists and turns, but they are always there. Over 10 years ago, our daughter Jessica Schumacher, PHQ #1, attended an election for Youth in Government Day held every year in St. Louis thanks to the caring men of the Legion of Honor. At that election she was selected to serve as Prosecuting Attorney. After her day of shadowing and learning, she came home and said "that is what I want to do. I want to work in the Prosecuting Attorney's office and help people." She went off to college, graduated and was fortunate to be admitted into law school. Thanks to her mentor, Julia Kitsmiller Pittman, PHQ, PGBHQ and her many other friends in the Order, even though she struggled, she succeeded and graduated. Then came the Oklahoma Bar! She studied and studied and alas, passed the exam on her first attempt. Last week we were blessed to be able to witness her oath in front of the Oklahoma Supreme Court the day she actually became an attorney. She has been offered a job, yes, with the District Attorney's office of Oklahoma County. That's the prosecutors office! She is now an ADA (Assistant District Attorney) and living her dream, helping people! She is working in the Domestic Violence section and works everyday helping victims by prosecuting their attackers. I wanted to let all you girls know, dreams can come true. Jessica had to work hard, she didn't get A's all the time, she didn't even get into the law school she really wanted, but she kept pushing and believing. So don't give up, dream your dreams and reap all the benefits this wonderful Order has to offer!
